Overcoming your shyness does not happen overnight. This is because your shyness is embedded deep into your personality. In order to get rid of this you will have to constantly work and welcome change into your life. It is important that you understand that this may take awhile before you can say that you gotten rid of shyness because this will keep you from giving up in the middle of the process.
To be successful in getting rid of your shyness you must be dedicated and committed. Moreover, you must also understand that this process is not meant to be easy. In fact, it can be very hard and very emotional for you. That is why if you are no prepared to take this step in your life then you do not have to force yourself to do so.
How can you overcome your shyness?

To help you remember all the things you just brainstormed right the details down on a piece of paper. Once you are done listing, read your list and think about the changes that you can do in order to improve the way you look at yourself and boost your confidence.
The changes may include changing your beliefs. If you believe in something negative then your brain will look for some memory that will prove that negative belief to be correct. You do this by listing down your beliefs and then sorting each one out. Ask a series of questions to yourself in every belief that you read. Your answer to the questions may help you make some changes.
Lastly, by using the same list of your negative beliefs write something positive beside each. This is what is called affirmation. To make your affirmations effective here are some things you must keep in mind when making one. It should be positive, written in first person, use "I" instead of "they", keep it in the present tense, it should be something that you can get hold of, and include some emotions or something that can be felt through the different senses.
